Tithing for the joy of it is such a wonderful and simple concept. And is as it should be! Giving because you truly want to, not because you are pressured into it!
You've heard this same song before. Tithing should not something to tie and bind you. It shouldn't make you feel desperate, anxious, or fearful.
And it certainly shouldn't make you dread tithing your money.
If any of these feelings are present when you tithe - it's best to just keep your money until the feelings in your heart change.
There are plenty of charities and organizations that need help. Try finding one that means something to you and try tithing to them. If your money is going toward something you have an interest in, maybe the dread and fear will be replace by happiness and contentment.
And it's true, tithing for the joy of it is like a silent communication between us and the universe. Where we show our love, faith and trust that we get what we give.

Back to our old upbringing. Most of us who have some background in traditional Western religion have heard the rule, you have to tithe 10% of your income to the church. Many people do follow that rule to the letter. That doctrine is the very foundation of financial solvency for churches all around the world.
However, for many others, that concept feels rigid and hard and we just don’t do it. Studies show that our generation simply does not tithe with the same level of commitment that our parents did. At the end of the day – I don’t think it’s some church that is hurting over our lack of tithing as much as we are hurting for lacking that commitment.
Tithing In A New
Light
That said, I would like to look at tithing in a new light. I don’t know how many times I hear things like, “I just can’t afford to give up the money.” Or “I don’t belong to a church.” I am just as guilty as anyone for living by my excuses for not tithing. However, I would like to suggest that if you are broke, the first thing you should do is tithe.
It’s a great way of demonstrating your faith and abundance to the Universe. I would also suggest that giving your money to ANY charity or anyone in need is just as good as giving your cash to a traditional church. Find a place to give the money that feels good to you and feel as good as you can giving it away. Tithe with a generous heart.
Secondly, if you are lacking something in your life that is less material, something money can’t buy, like friendship or romance, I suggest you tithe your time. Whatever you are lacking in your life – find a way to give it away.
If you are lacking companionship, tithe your time at a senior center. If you are lacking love, tithe your time at a hospital reading to children. If you are lacking time, for heaven sake, tithe your time somewhere. Whatever you give away comes back to you in
spades!
What Do You Want More Of In Your Life
In metaphysical circles we talk a lot about the law of attraction and how like attracts like. I don’t see how that is any different than traditional religion requesting tithe.
It’s a kind of silent contact between us and universe to be free and loving and generous, demonstrating our faith that we get what we give.
