Back then, I didn't know any better. I thought working hard was the way to get what I wanted. When I began to master the Law of Attraction, I was mesmerized by how easily I could get what I wanted without working hard at all. In fact, the less effort I put forth, the more quickly my intentions would materialize.

Now there's a lot of folks who think I'm lazy. Or lucky. Or both

When I first discovered the Law of Attraction, I could look back on my life and see the Law at work. For example, when I was a little girl, I wanted my name to be famous. I wanted people to hear my name and know it.

However, it never occurred to me that I could fall in love and marry a man who would give me a last name that would suddenly make my name famous. So now I'm Amy Grant. Arrggghh.

But I can't really be annoyed, because I got exactly what I asked for - the only problem is, I didn't ask for what I really wanted.

What I really wanted was to be famous, not to have a famous name.

Asking for exactly what you want is the first key

See? I got exactly what I asked for. Too bad I didn't ask for what I really wanted, which was $5000 cash in my bank account.

Remember, you'll get what you ask for, not what you want

Detachment is the third key, and it's just as critical as the first two.

It took me two years to master the art of detachment. Some Law of Attraction experts call it "allowing," others call it "receiving" and still others call it "detachment."

I call it "catch and release." Here's how it works

The next time you cast your line, you're not "hoping" you'll catch that fish again. You're not even expecting it. When you cast again, you've already put that first fish out of your mind completely.

In fact, when you suddenly get the urge to pull up anchor and move your boat to a completely different fishing spot, you're certainly not thinking about the catch you just freed.

And that's precisely when the granddaddy of all fish snaps onto your line.

That's exactly how the Law of Attraction works.

Let me give you a real-life example.

How I Attracted $7,000 and My Ideal Business Partner

A few months ago, I "caught" a great idea: wouldn't it be great to put together a teleseminar series to teach people all about Feng Shui, and show people how to create their own miracles?

The idea grabbed me, and I got a vision of what it would be like.

What felt natural was to attract a partner, because I had no interest in becoming the "Feng Shui Lady" and I had no formal training in the practice.

Then I cast my pole elsewhere and went on to pursue other things.

Or so I thought. Turns out, just a day or two later, I received an invitation to participate in a Manifestation Weekend that Dr. Joe Vitale was hosting.

Because I had put the "catch and release" of a feng shui teleclass out of my head, I never saw any connection. I only read Joe's email and thought "Ooooooh, this sounds interesting. I'm gonna sign up."

And I did

She was definitely enrolled in my idea, and we hit it off smashingly. There are a lot of different Feng Shui methodologies and perspectives, but Karrie's were all exactly like mine. Feng Shui is just another way to practice the Law of Attraction. I've discovered all sorts of ways to use the Law, and I applied the same technique to attract my dream home.

How I Attracted My Dream Home in Four Days

We spent some time driving around town and thinking about what we did and didn't want in a new home.

When we were clear on what we wanted (the first key), we decided to put our intention in writing (the second key). I wrote a short description of our perfect new home, and we gave thanks as though it was already achieved.

Then I forgot all about it (the third key: catch and release)

The moment he left, we scooped up our toddler and piled into the family car to check it out.

The first development was not a match. On a "whim," we decided to drive up the road a bit further, and that's when we found "the one."

Walking through the model, we fell in love with one floor plan in particular. However, we had made a very specific request for "sweeping mountain views" so it was time to look at the available lots for sale in the development.

We met with a sales agent and looked at available properties, including one lot that wasn't yet released. It was perfect.

The next day, I happened to open the notebook where I had written down our intention. I was not the least bit surprised to see that the home we selected matched our request exactly.

"Our new Castle Rock home has sweeping mountain views, six bedrooms/offices, a walkout basement, Feng Shui compatibility, and bordering open space. This home is beautiful, affordable, conveniently located and arrives with perfect timing. Thank you God for our perfect new home!"

Once again, I can't stress enough the importance of asking for exactly what you want.

When the house began construction, we noticed that the yard was less than ideal. Sure, the lot looked big when we selected it, but our house was huge. By the time the foundation was poured and the house was framed, we realized we had a very small yard with a very steep downward slope, which was not going to create an ideal play space for the kids.

Of course, we didn't ask for a big yard, and once again, we got exactly what we asked for.

But I didn't stay disappointed - I simply decided to attract a solution to make our small yard workable for our family.

A week later, I met the husband of a friend and as it turns out, he's a master landscaper. We created a plan for retaining walls and play space and-poof-problem solved.

How I Attracted a First-Class Trip to Greece (Out of Thin Air)

Like many people, I was broke when I first got started in network marketing. The company I was affiliated with was having a huge conference in Greece, and I desperately wanted to be there, but my husband kept reminding me that we couldn't afford it.

Even after I attracted the money to buy our ticket to the conference (using the three keys), we didn't have the cash to purchase international plane tickets.

Yet I kept getting messages telling me to "think big."

My husband was not amused. In fact, he was pretty ticked off. He believed I was being completely unreasonable and unrealistic.

"Blah, blah, blah" was all I heard. I was determined to fly first class.

What happened next was interesting.

Not only did the money randomly materialize for the plane tickets, but we suddenly realized we had enough frequent flyer miles to upgrade.

What's interesting is the way the tickets were booked

My husband had serious doubts about flying first-class, but he was willing to check into our upgrade options. As it turned out, he spent nearly two hours on the phone with the airline's representative, because one first-class seat got booked with no problems but the other one kept disappearing and reappearing from availability. He was speaking to a manager at the airline, who said in the 10 years she'd worked there, she'd never seen anything like this happen before.

When I walked into his office, and he told me what was going on, I immediately began visualizing him sitting next to me in first class. My prior visualization of being alone (well, not so much alone, but not necessarily imagining him next to me), combined with his doubt about whether or not it would actually happen, were obviously at the source of the mysterious disappearing/reappearing seat in first class.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he came into my office to tell me it was done and we were both flying first-class to Greece.

He was amazed (and exhausted) but I wasn't the least bit surprised

One other incident is worth noting. Even though I visualized myself eating shrimp while sitting in first class, I actually chose something else at mealtime. Whatever I ordered was terrible, and I attempted to send it back in exchange for the shrimp (which my husband had ordered, and enjoyed immensely). Unfortunately, they were out of the shrimp meal by the time I changed my mind, and I was stuck with a very dissatisfying meal. Had I ordered the shrimp as I had visualized so many times before, I would have delighted in my meal.

This taught me a valuable lesson: go with your gut and stick to your plan once you commit.

These three stories are just isolated incidents. I've used the Law of Attraction to manifest piles of money, new contracts and clients, joint ventures with people who seemed way out of my league, help from people who don't even know me, free stuff, sale stuff, impossible to find stuff -- you name it.

He had mental reservations. After our conference, he reversed his mental attitude and thereafter gave with joy and rich blessing. He soon found that the law of increase works for him also.

I also explained to him that tithing, as understood in the Bible, does not include giving money to various charities and secular organizations, even though such generosity is laudable and praiseworthy. When money is given as a tithe, it must be for the purpose of spreading abroad the truths of God and to the place where you are receiving spiritual help and inspiration.

He replied with gratitude, "This is the explanation I needed. Now I see clearly what tithing really means."

He Was Tithing In Reverse

I discovered that his attitude had been: "I don't expect or want anything back." The Bible says that a man shall decree a thing and it shall come to pass. He had given the order to his subconscious mind, and it implicitly obeyed him.

I explained to him that he had been neutralizing his good, somewhat similarly to planting a seed in the ground and digging it up a little later on, thereby preventing its growth.

This man began to see that if a farmer planted seeds in the ground, he automatically would reap a harvest - that is, the law of the soil and the law of the mind are same. He began to expect the law of opulence to work for him, and his financial condition improved in a fabulour way.

He was Minister-Director of the Church of Divine Science in Los Angeles for 28 years, and hundreds of people attended his lectures every Sunday. In 1976 Dr. Murphy moved from Los Angeles to Laguna Hills in California, and it was here he lectured every Sunday until his death in 1981.

Dr. Murphy wrote such books as The Amazing Laws of Cosmic Mind, The Miracle of Mind Dynamics, Your Infinite Power to Be Rich and The Cosmic Power Within You.

Now, I do not remember if I read it somewhere that it was a good strategy to look back that far in history of lottery drawing numbers or not, but I went back 90 days and a particular number just seemed to stand out. Really stand out, and that number was 867.

If this was the beginning process of manifestation...

I also wanted to make at least 5 thousand dollars per month and I set in my mind that I was going to find a way to do this through the lottery. There were many advantages to this as well. One, I never bought or played all of my money on one ticket.

I would break a ten dollar bet up into ten separate tickets...

When I saw that number 867, and I instantly knew that was the number that was going to hit, I went about my process of going to the local store and telling them I wanted that number on ten separate tickets for one dollar each straight.

I then went home and waited for the grand hour of the drawing knowing deep down inside I was going to make five thousand dollars that night. Well, the drawing went off and not a single number was part of what I wanted.

However, there was a feeling, and this is the feeling that I believe when people talk about manifestation and the feeling of want, what that feeling or better yet instinct feels like.

To me that feeling or instinct is like a baseball game

I had that feeling and I also knew that the number eight had been out of play for several weeks and was due to hit. With that in mind, I was the hitter and I knew that my number was coming and I was going to hit that home run and collect my five thousand dollars.

Well, the battle or duel had started. Everything was in place. I had my number, I knew the eight was due, it didn't hit on the first night that I played it and it was officially now the day of my birthday. What a present that would be. Perfection. Now, I have read about manifestation that it all startes with the desire.

The pure intent that is deep down in your soul that what you want you know with all your heart and soul that it is going to happen. Everything was in place. The hour came of the drawing and I knew this was it. It was my birthday, I had the number, it was going to be my home run. The number was drawn, and once again, not even close. I was disturbed. Deeply disturbed. Now, the next part of manifestation that I understand is that you have to release your intent. To let it go completely. Let it go completely out of your mind to where it never existed, never even was a thought.

I did not know of any of this...

Well, I said the hell with it and pulled in to the store and told myself this was it. I will play the number one last time and just move forward from there and find another number or angle, strategy, something that would move me closer to my goal of winning a couple of times a month.

So, I walked in played my number with no emotions like I had before with emotions, but not this time. No emotions, I just told the lady at the counter, give me my number and here is my money.

That night, I did not even want to watch the drawing

With the last two drawings not even being close to my number I figured that night the drawing would be same and not even close. If this was part of the manifestation process of letting go, I certainly had let it go with complete apathy to whatever the outcome of the drawing might be.

The next morning I stopped in at the store to get a coffee and asked the lady if she would give me a report of the numbers that had hit the night before. I took the report, the size of a ticket and did not even look at it.

I just stuck it in my pocket

I had to sit down. Thoughts ran through my head at a mecurial pace. I won. I hit the home run. I was not even trying to hit it. But, I hit it. I went later to the grocery store, because I knew they would be the only ones that would have five thousand dollars in cash on them and I cashed my ten tickets.

I was beyond happy. I just kept saying thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, over and over, and I have no idea who I was thanking, but I was the most thankful person that day at that moment anyone could have met.

Since then, I have investigated the stories of manifestation and how to include them in your life and how it works. But, there are many many questions that I still have about manifestation. At the same time, I have a deep down inner soul feeling that I understand it.

Questions, that occur the most frequently to me are was it a matter of the opportunity meeting the timing and I was there for it? Did the manifestation process work, I just did not know I was following the process? I have many lottery strategies and methods I use to predict the next winning number and I do have a fairly successful high hit rate.

I have met my goal of being able to hit the winning number...

I now use affirmations, meditation and have a complete new awareness of events that take place around me or involve me. I recommend everyone to at least explore manifestation and see how it can impact your own life.

His father was constantly saying, "We don't have the money to send you to college. We can't meet the mortgage on our home or the note that is due at the bank. We never make ends meet. Forget it!"

You can see the reason for this father's financial lack. He was contantly dwelling on lack, limitation, and financial restrictions of all kinds, and his subconscious naturally resonded according to the nature of his habitual thinking. Think rich and riches follow; think poverty and poverty follows.

His Reversed Attitude Worked Wonders

As a result, every night prior to sleep he imagined that he had received a letter from his son, telling him how happy he was to be in college and thanking him for all he had done for him. Furthermore, he claimed silently and feelingly: "God is the eternal source of my supply, meeting all my needs at every instant."

During the day when thoughts came to his mind, such as "I am short of money. I hardly know how to pay my bills. What have I to give? I am broke," etc., he never permitted the sentence to be finished in his mind.

You Can Neutralize Your Negativity

Often, at first, he had to do this thirty or forty times in one hour, but after a few days the momentum and force of the habitual negative thoughts died out, and he ceased to be troubled by them.

Then, almost miraculously, he won a large sum of money from a lucky lottery ticket which paid all his debts and gave him increased confidence and faith in the power of his mind to meet all his needs at all times, everywhere.

Today his son is in a university of his choice and is deeply grateful for the discovery of the real riches. This father and son will no longer tremble in fear and trepidation when financial exigencies and emergencies loom up before them.
