How to Pray for Results
Knowing how to pray for results will change your prayer life and may make a big difference in the results you receive.
First you need to know that prayers are not all the same.
Even though we sometimes make the mistake of grouping all our prayers together, we cannot interchange these spiritual laws.
Unfortunately, if we take the laws that govern one type of prayer and apply them to another kind of prayer, there is a great possibility that you won't get any results.
I'm just discovering this myself, but if you think about it, it does make sense that if there is order to the universal laws, then there should be some kind of order to the spiritual laws as well.
Here Are Some Types Of Prayers
A prayer of praise.
A prayer of gratitude.
A prayer of contrition.
A prayer for consecration and dedication.
A prayer of petition or faith.
A Prayer Of Petition
A prayer for petition is the one most used, and is sometimes called the prayer of faith. It is the one you use when you want to change circumstances, or ask God to supply you or others with your needs and wants.
This is the prayer you use when asking for help with finances, jobs, your relationships and your health.
When using this prayer, you never use the terms... "If it is your will," or "Thy will be done."
When you are praying for results with a prayer of faith, the scripture says, "...What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:24.
We already have God's promises! We already have His will, we don't have to ask for it! It is His Will that ALL our needs and wants be met, regardless if they are physical, material or spiritual.
An example of this prayer... "Father God, I am feeling fearful today. Life seems to be uncertain and out of control. I recall that the Bible tells me, perfect love casts out fear. You alone are Perfect Love, so would you please cast out the fear I feel and replace it with confidence in your sufficiency. Psalm 121 tells me that you never slumber or sleep, so I will trust you to take care of me - moment by moment, day by day. In Jesus name. Amen"
Notice how this prayer also mentions a scripture from the Bible? When you pray, mention His promises to us. Let Him know that you trust and have faith in those promises, but you must believe and have faith that He will deliver on them, even though the things you've prayed for haven't manifested yet.
A Prayer Of Contrition
This type of prayer is said when you want to admit to your sins or anything you feel you've done wrong. You are mainly asking for forgiveness without offering excuses.
An Example of this prayer would be... "O my God, I am truly sorry for having offended You. I know I have sinned and my heart weeps in sorrow. I love You, my God! You who are all good and deserving of all my love. I have truly resolved, with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen."
A Prayer Of Gratitude
In a prayer of grattitude you are giving thanks for everything, every person and all the blessings He has given you! All the answered prayers, every situation, event, experience... as well as His love and His mercy, are all things we should give thanks for. Nothing should be excluded from this prayer.
An Example of this prayer would be... "Thank you Father, for all the things You have given me... food, clothes and shelter. The love of my family and friends, my job, car and home. Please take care of those people without a home, food or the love and companionship of their family, Amen."
A Prayer Of Praise
This particular prayer is said we you want to give praise to, adore, admire, show love, faith, trust and give glory to God... For what He does for you, and for who He is
An example of this prayer... "Now to him who is able to keep them from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory in great joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen."
A Prayer For Consecration And Dedication
When you pray a prayer of consecration and dedication, you are basically giving something over totally to God. It is a prayer of total surrender. This type of prayer usually has the phrases "If it is your will," or "Thy will be done."
An example of this prayer is like the one Jesus said in the Garden of Gethsemane... "Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." Luke 22:42.
This is NOT a prayer of petition or a prayer to change circumstances, but a prayer of consecration and dedication.
Again, if you are putting your faith in God to change or receive something, never use, "If it is thy will," or "Thy will be done."
Now you know how to pray for results, just remember these few rules. Also, don't forget to try praying God's promises.
Knowing this is a wonderful thing, but you also have to remain firm, have no doubt and stand your ground, even in hard times. Always believe God and His Word. I promise you'll see results.
