I've written many articles now about God and his promises of prosperity for us. So I would like brings up
two points to discuss.
One point is about redefining your prosperity, and the other point is about believing and living
God's promises.
We all have our ideas about prosperity and what it means to us, and I'm sure if you asked several
different people, you would get several different answers, but what's important is how to view
YOUR prosperity.
Life's Reflection
Remember me saying in other articles that your life will reflect what you believe? Well your life is your
prosperity, and if you believe and feel that you are content with what you have, then
that's all you will ever have.
In order to redefine your prosperity, you have to redefine your belief system. If you want more in life,
then you have to believe you can obtain it or achieve it.
Whatever you want it life... it doesn't matter what it is, you have to believe it, before you can achieve it.
So define your prosperity. And if you ARE happy and content with the way your life is, then
congratulations - you have done what most of us are still trying to do.
Is It Wrong To Want More
God and His promises are very dear. They are words that I take to heart, but many of us have been taught
that it's wrong to want or desire more than we have.
That we should settle for what we have and not want more. That it's okay to be poor, ill and unaware.
That if we desire more in our lives - then we're greedy, sinful and ungrateful.
This is what I was taught, and this is what I believed for years. Until I got to thinking and reading,
and reading some more, and came to the conclusion that it just didn't make sense.
Hearing And Reading Contradictions
And what didn't make sense was hearing one thing... then reading about God and His promises. The two didn't
match. How can reading:
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to
every good work. II Corinthians 9:8
Or what about:
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13
Or this:
Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24
And still another from God and His promises:
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phillippians 4.19
And what about this:
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name,
He will give it you. John 16:23,24
And it goes on and on and on! But my favorite is a simple little verse that goes something like this:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
I read a story once, about a man who prayed and asked God why his needs weren't being met.
God answered the man and told him that his needs were not being met because he didn't expect them to be met.
The man thought about this for a few minutes then told God that his needs were more like wants, and he
had been taught to only pray for the things he needed in life.
God told the man, "Okay, you are a great believer in the Bible and the words within it, what
does 23rd Psalm, verse 1 say?"
The man replied, "Why it says the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want."
God said, "There you go, I supply ALL your WANTS and ALL your NEEDS!"
Today, a lot of people are finally coming to the realization that it's okay to have their needs as
well as their wants fulfilled.
According to God and His promises, He doesn't want us to live in poverty, illness, and debt. He has
given us all the guidance we need to go beyond that, and live our lives according to how He wants us to.
How Do You Think God Wants You To Live
Don't believe for a second that He thinks it's find for us to live that way. For those of you who are
parents, would it be okay with you for your children to live in poverty and debt?
To have them wanting and needing and never getting or having because they believe this is how you want
them to live?
So redefine your prosperity, your wants and your needs - then trust and believe in God and his promises.
