Own A Cleaning Service Business
A cleaning service can be as basic as cleaning two or three houses...to having a company that employs maids and cleaners to do the work, while you take care of the paper work and marketing. It can also be either residential cleaning or commercial cleaning...or both.
Our society today is filled with families that are too busy taking their children to piano practice, soccer practice, dance and anything else that pops up...that hiring a cleaning service seems to be in more demand.
Skills You Need
Regardless if you're cleaning a house or an office building...the principles are the same. Clean them like you would clean your own home.
When owning a cleaning service business...you will have to pay attention to the details and go that extra mile. Show your customers that you are a professional and that they come first. You are there to please them. Some cutomers will be easy to please...but there will always be others who won't be that easy.
Tools You Need
The tools you will need for your cleaning service business will of course be cleaning supplies for the floor, toilet, kitchen and bathroom. Some of your customers may perfer their own cleaning supplies and others may expect you to bring your own.
Heavier equipment...like vacuum cleaners...should be provided by the customer. If you have to bring your own...then negotiate for more money.
Getting Started
If you own a business where you have to go into other people's
homes...it's a good idea to purchase liability insurance before you even begin.
You can check with your home owners or car insurance company to see the types of liability insurance that's offered. Some insurance companies will even give you a discount for having more than one policy in your name.
Getting this insurance makes you feel better...knowing you're
covered...if something should happen while in your customer's home. you will also be able to attract more customers if they know you're covered.
Do your research. Check out other cleaning services in your area to see what they are charging for their services. Don't be so eager to start--that you undercharge--just to get your first customer. Cleaning is very hard work and you want to charge accordingly. Make sure you get the money you work hard for.
With a lot of determination and a lot of desire, you can do this business and make it work! Know that success doesn't happen over night. It will take time to build a business...but your determination to succeed will make it happen.
